The legendary Autobot security guard returns in an all-new retro-inspired release with the Transformers Missing Link Ironhide by Takara Tomy. Part of the innovative Missing Link series, this collectible imagines what Ironhide could have been if his original 1980s toy had fully reflected his heroic anime appearance while preserving the spirit of classic Transformers engineering.

Originally planned as part of the 1984 overseas lineup, Ironhide never received a Japanese release in 1985. This “virtual reissue” reinterprets the character with a design philosophy that blends vintage toy aesthetics with anime-accurate styling, creating the ultimate homage to a lost piece of Transformers history.

Ironhide transforms from a red Nissan Cherry Vanette-style minivan into a fully articulated robot mode without separating into multiple components. While honoring the original toy’s use of die-cast zinc alloy construction, this updated version delivers a cleaner, more heroic silhouette inspired by the animated series. The articulation system allows for expressive action poses while maintaining the nostalgic mechanical feel of vintage Transformers toys.

In addition to vehicle and robot modes, Ironhide can also transform into a special third configuration known as “Respect Mode,” inspired by the original toy’s unique robot form. Included accessories feature plated versions of the anime-inspired Drill equipment and classic Laser weapon, along with a functional rocket launcher mounted on the back. The rocket and drill accessories can be stored inside the backpack for added playability and display accuracy.

Details originally represented through stickers on vintage releases are now recreated through enhanced sculpting and paint applications, while optional foil stickers are also included for collectors seeking a retro finishing touch. A female human figure compatible with other Missing Link releases is included and can be seated inside the cockpit in any mode.

Additional nostalgic features include a heat-activated “secret emblem” that reveals the faction symbol when warmed by touch, a newly illustrated retro-style package design, and an included collector card. A stand connection point is also integrated into the figure for dynamic display options using separately sold stands.
