Godzilla Minus Zero Is Coming — And a New Generation of Godzilla Collectibles Begins
Godzilla is returning to the big screen.
Following the worldwide success of Godzilla Minus One, director Takashi Yamazaki is bringing audiences back to postwar Japan with Godzilla Minus Zero, opening in Japanese theaters on November 3, 2026.
For Godzilla collectors, however, the excitement is already beginning.
The first major collectible based on the new movie has been revealed, and we believe Godzilla Minus Zero could become one of the most important Godzilla collecting events of the next year.
S.H.MonsterArts Godzilla (2026) Leads the Way
Bandai Tamashii Nations has officially revealed the S.H.MonsterArts Godzilla (2026) from Godzilla Minus Zero.
This isn't simply another repaint of the previous Minus One figure.
The new Godzilla is being produced using 3D data from the movie itself, with renowned Godzilla sculptor Yuji Sakai responsible for the prototype, coloring, and sculpting production.
The figure stands approximately 160 mm tall and features the articulation collectors expect from S.H.MonsterArts.
Preorders opened in July, with the Japanese release scheduled for November 2026—the same month the movie arrives in theaters.
For collectors who want the new Godzilla design represented on their shelves, this is currently the release to watch.
But This Could Be Only the Beginning
One of the most exciting things about a new Japanese Godzilla movie is what happens afterward.
A new Godzilla design creates opportunities across almost every part of the collectible market.
Bandai has already moved first with S.H.MonsterArts, but we're now watching to see which manufacturers follow.
Could we eventually see larger-scale Godzilla Minus Zero figures?
Premium statues?
Soft vinyl releases?
Different versions of Godzilla based on scenes from the movie?
At this point, those products have not all been officially announced, so we're not going to pretend we know what's coming.
But if Minus Zero generates anything close to the collector response of Godzilla Minus One, we expect manufacturers to pay very close attention.
Manufacturers We're Watching
Bandai / Tamashii Nations is naturally at the top of our list.
S.H.MonsterArts Godzilla (2026) is already official, but the bigger question is whether this will be the only Minus Zero MonsterArts release.
We will also be watching companies such as Hiya Toys, X-Plus, Spiral Studio, and other premium Godzilla manufacturers for future announcements.
Each company approaches Godzilla differently.
S.H.MonsterArts emphasizes articulation and display posing.
Hiya Toys has been building an increasingly impressive catalog of articulated Godzilla figures.
X-Plus is known for larger, display-focused interpretations of classic kaiju.
And premium statue manufacturers have shown just how far Godzilla collectibles can go in size, detail, and presentation.
If Minus Zero expands into several of these categories, collectors could eventually have very different interpretations of the new Godzilla to choose from.
Don't Forget Godzilla Minus One
Interestingly, the arrival of Minus Zero doesn't mean Minus One collecting is finished.
Bandai also has S.H.MonsterArts Godzilla (2023) – The Odo Island Monster scheduled for release in 2026.
That gives collectors an opportunity to represent another important appearance from Godzilla Minus One while beginning a new Minus Zero collection.
Imagine eventually displaying:
Godzilla (2023) Odo Island → Godzilla Minus One → Godzilla (2026) Minus Zero
That could make an incredible evolution display for fans of Takashi Yamazaki's Godzilla films.
2026–2027 Could Be Huge for Godzilla Collectors
This is what makes the next year particularly exciting.
We're not looking at one isolated figure.
We're potentially looking at the beginning of an entirely new collectible cycle surrounding a major Godzilla movie.
The movie itself hasn't even reached theaters yet, meaning manufacturers still have plenty of opportunities to reveal new products throughout late 2026 and into 2027.
For collectors, our recommendation is simple:
Don't assume the first figure will be the last.
Choose the releases that fit your collection rather than feeling that you need to preorder everything immediately.
